FOOD
COLLECTORS
NEEDED FOR MOTHER
HUBBARD’S CUPBOARD
Our quarterly food collection
for
Mother Hubbard’s
Cupboard is coming
up on Friday
& Saturday, TBA
Volunteers are needed for
two-hour shifts at Lowe’s Foods
on
Oleander Drive (near Sears). We
hand
out flyers to arriving shoppers,
and ask
them to pick up an extra item
or two or
three for the needy people
who come
to the downtown
Cupboard, and drop
their extra
purchases off with us as
they leave.
We operate in two-person
teams, to
handle both doors, for the
two-hour
shift. With the cost of food
escalating,
this is a worthy ministry to
put our UU
principles into practice by
helping out
those less fortunate than
ourselves. If
you can help out on a
two-hour shift,
please call Charlie
West at 458-4136 or
email him at
Charlie West.
WORSHIP AFFINITY GROUP
FULL MOON
WOMANCIRCLE JANUARY 13th - 7:30
PM
Our WomanCircle is an on-going support group that meets monthly in our members' homes. We celebrate the cycles of our lives in nature-honoring rituals as we move around the Wheel of the Year. We gather to honor ourselves as women to celebrate the cycles of our Earth - and to observe the changes which occur over time -- in a day, in a week, a month, a season, a lifetime. January opens the door and we step forward into a new year. This is a time of fresh beginnings, new adventures, new projects , and new intentions. As well as being physical places of transition, doorways are also symbolic of that instant when you are between the worlds. You can see clearly where you have been, and look forward confidently to where you are heading. This month, bless the thresholds of your home as a symbolic act of welcoming in good fortune, creativity, stability and happiness. We'll gather at the home of Anne C. Barbara V. will be the leader for our meditation and rituals. Please RSVP if you plan to join us. CONTACT: fullmoonwomancircle@uufwilmington.org

MEMORIAL GARDEN & MEDITATION WALK NEWS
On Sunday November 9th, UUFW dedicated our new Memorial Garden and Meditation Walk, adding another beautiful space to our grounds. We are grateful to all who attended the Memorial Garden Dedication and to those who helped with the Garden's creation. Reverend Elaine facilitated a lovely service. The vision for the Memorial Garden has been kept alive for over 30 years by the Remembrance Committee, headed by Thelma Worksman, Pat Prosser and others. About 3 years ago Michelle Masson invigorated a team to make the Garden a reality. It is the first phase in a bigger design; the complete drawings by Max Feinbloom are posted in Dobkin Fellowship Hall. Many people contributed to the vision, design, implementation, funding, labor, materials, and accessories. We are grateful to each one. Please let us know If we left out your name. During the Dedication Service, Travis Tabor and Thom Pease provided beautiful accompaniment music. Many members and friends scattered ashes or birdseed in memory of loved ones. Participants included infants, elders and many in between. We thank (in no particular order): Sanjay and Sonali Batish & family, Maggie Parrish, Bonnie Mattson, Michelle Masson, Ellen Sutliff, Bill Millette, Bill Bartlett, Max Feinbloom, John Colter, Haze Ackermann, Jeannie Lennon, Bruce and Debbie Dillard, Alexis Roberts, Bruce Kenney, Bill Rathbun, Jake Regennas, Toni Aberson, Thelma Worksman, Pat Prosser, Don and Sue Wood, Beverly Cree, Patricia Coe, Luis Cruz, Polly Tait, Tiffany Ben and Isabella Ericksen, Jack and Phyllis Guberman, Don Houvenin, Ken Johnson, Alison Klein, Robert Cindy and Sean Kienitz, Bill Murray, Nicolle Nicolle, Angie Reeves, Roxie and Dave Morison. The creation of the Memorial Garden and Meditation Walk is a long-held vision that already serves more functions than we hoped for.
