Religious Education Committee

Our Religious Education department consists of one part time Director (dre-at-uufwilmington.org), volunteer teachers for each unit, and the Religious Education (RE) Committee. The committee generally meets monthly, and we are always looking for new members who share a commitment to the spiritual growth of our children. You need not be a parent to join the committee - just contact recommittee-at-uufwilmington.org!

The mission of the RE committee is to ensure that children of the UUFW community receive a quality liberal religious education, taught by caring people in a safe and comfortable environment. Recognizing that our youngest members have much to teach, we strive to integrate activities to promote mutual inspiration between children and adults.

The RE committee supports the Director of Religious Education (DRE) in her leadership role. Committee members solicit input and feedback from the congregation (and especially parents) to help select, coordinate and publicize the RE curriculum for children and teens. Committee members are responsible for recruiting teachers, and formulating rules, regulations and policies to ensure child safety and educational excellence. The committee also performs ongoing evaluations of the quality of the RE program and implements recommended improvements as needed.

Adult Religious Education is coordinated by the Adult Programs Commitee.
