Beacon Article and Announcement Submissions

Deadline for The Beacon (monthly newsletter) is the 15th of the month. Please submit articles to: office-at-uufwilmington.org. Tanya Heffner layout editor. For additonal information, contact the office, 392-6454.

Event Listings on the Calendar

A request sheet is in the office with columns to indicate the time, date and how long the event is to run. This is important so that Tanya (office-at-uufwilmington.org) knows if rooms will be freed up for all to use. If you have an important fellowship event that needs to be scheduled in an occupied room sufficient notice to her will give her the opportunity to reschedule events.

Order of Service Announcements

Submit brief announcements to Tanya (office-at-uufwilmington.org) by the Wednesday before you need the announcement published.

Electronic News List

This announcement list is intended to help the lay leaders of UUFW keep members, friends, and visitors informed of important news, events, and activities. Most messages are reminders about events happening this week, late-breaking information that may have missed the Beacon publication deadline, and changes to previously published dates. This list is moderated, and only intended to broadcast announcements, and not to promote discussion. Personal messages (including but not limited to requests for help, invitations to non-UUFW events, and information about joys, concerns, and personal milestones) may not be sent over this list, but are welcome at the UUFamily list.

You can subscribe or unsubscribe to the News List yourself, or contact Sue Graffius.

Tips for writing to the UUFW News Email List:

send email to news-at-uufwilmington.org; there will be a delay before you see your message, while a list moderator approves your email
use a meaningful subject header
put all information inside the body of your message
indicate who is sending the message (“sign” it with your full name and relevant title, such as your position on the committee sponsoring the event about which you are writing)
write message that are clear and complete even to newcomers
please do not send more than one message about a subject per week unless there has been a change
if the information you want to share is relevant to everyone at UUFW, don’t limit its exposure by sending it to a smaller list (such as UUFamily, which has far fewer subscribers)
