We welcome anyone wishing to join the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Wilmington (UUFW). We are an open and inviting place. We encourage everyone but require no one to formally become a member of The Fellowship. Membership offers many benefits, including voting at congregational meetings and serving on the Board of Trustees. Most importantly, however, membership provides a strong feeling of community.
The only requirement to become a member of our Fellowship is to meet with Rev. Elaine Peresluha, in order to give you an opportunity to get acquainted, and to sign our membership book. We also encourage you to participate in an Understanding Unitarian Universalism (UUU) class. While not required, the UUU class provides a chance to gain valuable information about life in our Fellowship and about Unitarian Universalism (see below).
Path to membership classes are conducted by the Membership Committee three or more times each year, depending on demand. The scheduled dates for upcoming classes are announced well in advance on the website (see Upcoming Events) and in The Beacon newsletter. If you are interested in attending a Path to membership Class you need only sign up at the Visitor’s Table in the Fellowship Lobby or send and email to membership-at-uufwilmington.org. Classes give participants an opportunity to share their spiritual journey with others, to learn about the history and principles of Unitarian Universalism, and to learn about life in our Fellowship. The classes typically are taught in three, two hour sessions. Attending these sessions does not obligate participants to make a decision to join.
